Did yet more editing of content (which most of you will probably never notice) and finally got round to composing a master list of library items that have been reviewed. Which is nice.
Reviewed all the main pages of the site (most save the data pages themselves) and tried to make sure all content was up to date. And fixed the Guestbook.

Moved the whole goddamned comic library from my freeserve webspace to my freenetname webspace. Why? 'Cos freenetname give me 20MB. And I only have about 0.7MB of my freeserve 15MB left. That's why. So if any of you kids have bookmarked any pages other than the Welcome Page I'd recommend you update them.
Changed my e-mail address (for all things website related) to megasad@yahoo.com. E-mail stuff there now. Cheers.
Also did some good old fashioned maintenance on the site. Updating links etc. Some more of which was done at the end of last month as well. So go read the relevant page.
Ooh! I also got my new scanner today. And a damn fine beast it is too. So look forward to some nice new scans in the near future.

Sorted out which issues of Buffy were in that Bad Blood storyline (#9, #10, #11, #13, #14, #15, #17, #18 and #19). Updated the text on the Downloads and Looking for depraved filth? pages. And changed the 'RETURN TO MAIN PAGE' picture to the new one of Scarab.
Smeg. I've done sod-all to the site this month. Why? Well, I've had nothing to do. More and more people have been coming here. Some have even e-mailed me! But as far as the design of this version is concerned I've pretty much optimised it as far as I can (or want). I am soon to learn XML. Version 6.1 looms. I'll get some new comics in a week or so and stick those up. And when I get my new scanner I'll more than likely scan in some nice new images for the site. I'll probably even make a new look main page next week sometime. Hoo ha.

So I finally got round to setting up www.megasad.co.uk. So go there now (ie - when you next visit). 'Cos it's faster to type in, and sounds less scabby than, www.megasad.freeserve.co.uk. The comic library itself is still contained within my freeserve webspace (15MB) but that's just because I can't be arsed to re-upload the entire thing. I'll probably use the freenetname webspace (20MB) for extra ZIPs and MP3s and junk. Added to my other freeserve account (megasad2) this means I've got 50MB of webspace to span the comic library over. Tasty. I'll keep the caleb@megasad.freeserve.co.uk e-mail address though 'cos I can only collect e-mails sent to my freenetname account (caleb@megasad.co.uk) when connected to the internet using their dial-up service. You can collect e-mails from freeserve using any dial-up and even Yahoo or Hotmail etc. Crunchy.
Upon discovering that Bad Places has been cancelled I was annoyed mightily. So I ripped off the images and made my own version of the original site (which has been pulled). You can go read it (parts 1 - 3) at www.megasad2.freeserve.co.uk/badplaces. And if Mr Ellis sees this then please don't sue me! I did this 'cos it was a kewl story that more people should read. If you want me to get rid of it then I will. Hey, I know! I'll e-mail him and ask whether it's okay. Damn I'm clever.
So I've said this before... but now the search engine really is fixed! Honest! Give it a whirl to see how sweet it now is. It fits in with the rest of the site and everything.
The march of the 1024x768 resolution continues. I've changed the HTML in the left hand side frame (menu) so that it looks pretty much the same in 800x600. But, when viewed in 1024x768, the links become more evenly spaced down the screen. Much more tasty than the old HTML which kept them all squished up at the top of the page.
Added a link to bad places (an amazing new online comic by Warren Ellis) on the Links page.
Stuck a new picture demonstrating what you won't find in the library upon the Looking for depraved filth? page.
Made the new Send me an e-mail page. And so made the Crunchy page as well.
I changed the picture on the Main Page to that of Death. I redesigned the way the tables work on it so that the page doesn't appear as stupid when viewed in 1024x768 resolution. And I stuck a new (February 2000) picture of me on there as well.

So I made this totally gorgeous wallpaper for you all to use. Or at least drool over. All I did was get a screen shot of the comic library. Then I screwed around with it for about one and a half hours in Paint Shop Pro 5. And Adobe Photoshop 5.0 for the lens flares. And I stuck some eyes in there as well. Damn fine, no? Went searching and found scans of Transmetropolitan 1 - 18. So I incorporated them into the pages of Transmetropolitan: Back On The Street, Transmetropolitan: Lust For Life and Transmetropolitan: Year Of The Bastard by creating the Transmetropolitan 1 - 3 - Original Covers, Transmetropolitan 4 - 12 - Original Covers and Transmetropolitan 13 - 18 - Original Covers pages.

Finally got round to making a form for people to review library items with. So I made a thanks page. And updated the Features section.

Bad news though. My scanner has totally died. And since I have no job, and only about ~£25 savings in all the world, the chances of me getting a new one anytime soon are slimmer than those of me getting a girlfriend. Now, the clever people out there will say, "Just don't buy any comics for a couple of months and then get a cheap scanner for about ~£40." And those people would be speaking a hell of a lot of sense. However, what I'll probably do is go job-hunting tomorrow. I've been needing a job for the last few months anyway... what with only the one good shirt, increasingly thread-bare trousers and a pair of shoes that look as if they've been dragged through a desert and back (which they have). I live right next to the city centre for Christ's sake! There's gotta be a job out there somewhere for a young guy in need of some moolah! Whatever, that's why the new data pages don't have the covers on 'em yet. If I am successful in gaining employment then I'll still have to wait till the end of the month to get paid. But at least I'll get to be exploited by a company that wants to pay less than the minimum wage and so only employs under-18s.

'Kay, it may seem I'm not doing as much to the library as I used to but that's not 'cos I'm too lazy. Well, actually, it is. Anyway, I update the freaks webshite slightly more often than I do this one, so if you want more regular megasad stuff go there.
I know that in the past I've said that notepad is the best thing to make websites in. And this is still true. However, with the library growing bigger and bigger, and showing no signs of slowing down, I'm afraid that I must give in to the evil that is WYSIWYG.
Come Version 6.1 I'm gonna be using Macromedia Dreamweaver to design and maintain the library. The key factor that made me choose Dreamweaver is that you can use Templates. With these I'll be able to change the look of the library, on every single page, a hell of a lot faster. At the moment I have to change, by hand, the code in over 800 pages. With Dreamweaver I'll just have to change the template file and then it'll do the rest. Kewl.
At the moment I'm still learning how to use the beast. And actually making all those pages is gonna take as long as ever. So I'll probably be experimenting between now and July. Then, come the summer holidays, I'll spend a few weeks making the whole goddamned library. Till then I'll keep this library up to date and you won't even notice the difference until sometime in late August / early September. Proper notices nearer the time.
