0084 - iBook / Geek Mode On

"He'd be okay if he wasn't such a wanker."
-Charlotte on the bus, when I was in Year 8

"Look! He's covered in blood! He's a murderer!"
-Six / seven year old boy I passed, after painting a fence

A shiny new G3-500 iBook will soon be mine. 384MB RAM, 10GB hard drive, DVD Player, AV output. Hoo-hah. Converting from IBM/Intel/Windows and all that I have known for the last six years, to join that elite 4% of the PC-owning population who are Mac. Why? The reasons are twofold. First, I'm tired of Windows, it's unreliability (or rather its extremely reliable shitness), its tendency to crash after more than a day of use and then not work properly for another week. Second, that iBook is a damn pretty machine. I'm shallow like that now; clean good looks make my decisions for me.

I leave this place in one week, to move to London and begin with the studying. I have yet to pack or sort out my bank or read the books they recommended or get a haircut or buy anything whatsoever. A busy week.

This summer holiday I did mostly absolutely nothing. Well, I think I did some stuff near the beginning, like near the start of July, but otherwise nada. Other than sleep of course. A waste? only when I wake up after 6pm. Which has been nearly every day this last week... But I move out soon, so that'll stop then.

Evil student websites have been telling me I must get drunk in Fresher's week. Screw those hippies; I don't want to. I'll learn my new iBook and go into (stay within) Hermit Mode. Like Stealth Mode, only with more smell.

Lego has made a triumphant return; a shiny new jump-jet and a two-floor mansion have been built recently. Thanks to Ministry of Space (for the jump-jet) and my sister's nagging (for the mansion).

Yeah, both those quotes at the top are in reference to me. The first; a missed chance of friendship. The second; pure hilarity and a very wide grin to my face.

This summer I have painted; over 300 planks of wood (both sides, so over 600 in effect), 6 sheds, 4 gates, 2 windows, 1 hallway, 1 fence (again both sides, so I guess two, and it was a damn long fence as well). I am a painting machine. I would paint more stuff. Give it to me and it shall be painted. But hurry up; I leave soon.

The comic fair got cancelled. Bastards. I was very much looking forward to tracking down issues of Geisha, Breakfast Afternoon, 100 Bullets, and many other books that I was interested in. So now I have more savings. Comic shops in London number in the many. Yay.
